Hello all, I'm an unabashed Redditor and have become fascinated w r/SavageGarden over there. I was then delighted to learn that my new home (South Carolina) has quite a few native carnivorous plant species. I've been doing a bit of reading and think I have the basics. What I want to do is make small-ish native bog in a planter for my patio. I've been having trouble finding a specific list of SC natives (and more importantly natives that have similar care requirements and could be housed together) and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction on what to look for as well as the best place to get it.
Cheers, Shadow

ShadowRancher, Buy a copy of the book "Carnivorous Plants of the United States and Canada" by Donald Schnell. It's an excellent reference material and includes maps of each plant's native range. Here is a list of the CPs that are found in South Carolina: Venus flytrapsSundews (Drosera species) D. brevifolia D. capillaris D. filiformis D. intermedia D. rotundifolia Butterworts (Pinguicula species) P. caerulea P. lutea P. pumila Pitcher plants (Sarracenia species) S. flava S. minor S. purpurea S. rubra A couple non-S.C. natives that you might want to try: S. leucophylla S. psittacina A few years ago, I had a raised bog garden in Charlotte, NC. It was 8' x 4' x 1', made from small landscaping timbers with a thick plastic liner and a drain set 3" below the surface. It held plenty of water for the pitcher plants but wasn't overly wet for the flytraps. I was in a Home Depot yesterday and spotted a nice candidate for a mini-bog garden. It was a "patio garden" planter, about 3' x 3' x 8". There were no drain holes in the bottom, so it would make a nice CP planter. For inexpensive local sources of plants, check out Lowe's Home Improvements. Their garden centers get flytraps and southern pitcher plants (Sarracenia purpurea) in April or May. They're in the "death cubes" in the interior garden area. I've had good success with purchases from Joel's Carnivorous Plants (California) and Cook's Carnivorous Plants (Oregon). You could also check Amazon and eBay for plant sellers. VC
